Investigate On The Current Situation Of Childcare Workers’ Competence In Jiangxi Province

The research adopts documentary method, interviewing method, observation method, questionnaire method etc, to survey the current situation of childcare workers’ competence of thirty kindergarten in three cities of Jiangxi Province,from professional knowledge, childcare skills, psychological characteristics, career motivation, professional attitude.This research found that the competence level of childcare workers’ in Jiangxi Province is acceptable. In the five dimensions, childcare skills in the highest level;career motivation is much lower than other dimensions. The life management ability and professional identity of childcare workers exist significant difference on the working years.The total score of the competence and the characteristics exist significant difference on the education and the nature of the kindergarten.This research found that there exist some problems of childcare workers’ competence in Jiangxi Province:(1) professional knowledge is weak, lack of systematic;(2) safety and health work is not in place;(3) the cooperation with kindergarten teachers in general is less frequency;(4) the level of responsibility needs to be improved;(5) occupation motivation level is low;(6) the childcare workers’ competence level of private kindergartens is lower than public kindergartens.Aiming at these existed problems,this research puts forward some suggestions from three aspects to further improve the childcare workers’ competence level.(1)Perfecting the training system, improve the professional level:(1) the government to increase investment, improve the childcare worker training system;(2) to strengthen the training of the kindergarten, providing on-the-job learning opportunities;(3) take the initiative to learn, to establish the concept of lifelong learning.(2) Pay attention to the childcare work, improve childcare workers’ professional identity :(1)pay attention to the childcare work, creating an atmosphere of equality;(2) with adequate staff and workers to reduce childcare workers’ tasks;(3) childcare worker should be accurately position their own roles.(3) Raising the entry standard,perfecting the management system:(1) improve the entry threshold of childcare worker, to strictly control access;(2) improve the job responsibility system;(3) improve the treatment of childcare worker, improve the evaluation and incentive mechanism.
