The development of educational reform requires teachers to improve their teaching skills to meet the need of reformation. At the time, activity teaching becomes a innovative teaching method in junior high school geography education because of its advantages of strong practice and the ability that could exert students` autonomy. The subject of geography has a close relationship with real life. Learn a great deal of geographical knowledge and master the skill of how to learn it is not only important to student's academic development but also concern all aspects of students` life in the future. The content of Junior high school geography classroom teaching involves all aspects; geography class activity is a very important part of it. In order to cultivate students` innovative spirit and practical ability, improve students` independent inquiry, cooperative learning and social intercourse capacity, exploits students` autonomous learning potential; teachers should design a variety of geography classroom activities according to the actual situation of students. The paper tries to apply the relevant theory of classroom activities to new geographical curriculum teaching practice in junior middle school, hoping to provide some references and enlightens.The paper is mainly made up by six parts. First part, introduction, which interprets the research background, research status at home and abroad, contents, significance, train of thoughts and methods; Second part, the content research of geography classroom activities in junior middle school. This section was divided into two steps. In the first step, we defined the relevant concepts in geography classroom activities,then analyzed the characteristics of junior high school geography classroom activities, finally discussed the type and function of junior high school geography classroom activities and designed corresponding cases according to different classroom activities. In the second step we discussed the related theory foundation of junior high school geography classroom activities; The third part are investigations and analysis of present situation of geography classroom activity. These parts provide strong data support for the whole writing of the paper. The author introduced the survey purpose, objects, process of questionnaire preparation and data statistics work, on the basis of these works analyzed the data, draw a research conclusion, and analyzed the investigation conclusion; the fourth part is the research of design and evaluation strategy of junior middle school geography classroom activities. This part elaborates the design and evaluation strategy of geography classroom activity, the design of geography classroom activity should be improved from three aspects, which are form, content, and degree of difficulty. The evaluation of geography classroom activities also plays a important role in the implement of classroom activities. Fifth part, practice cases of geography classroom activity teaching design and analyses of teaching effectiveness. In this part, the author took an actual class as an example to analyses its teaching effects. Sixth part, conclusion.The importance of geography class activities in classroom teaching has been well known among the teachers and students. The huge functions of classroom activities have not been fully played. The study summarized the problems of all departments in the present geography classroom teaching on the basis of investigation.Analysand depth to the reasons that cause these problems, preliminarily put forward strategies of design and evaluation of junior high school geography classroom activity.
