Urban Teacher Residency Models is the emergence of a teacher training practice mode inrecent years of the United States, it is promoted by education authorties of the schooldistricts, and it is a new teacher education measure mainly for the public primary andsecondary schools of urban school districts neither recruit nor retain the excellent teachers forlong time. The model originally designed for the training of public schools in the city, and ithas gradually developed into a more extensive teacher education mode of practice. The studyof urban teacher training model is an important issue in the field of teacher education in theUnited States as well as in comparative education in China. But up to now the studies on thisissue are not enough, and systematic studies about the background and current state of theurban teacher residency models are much less. On the base of summarizing the literaturesabout this issue, the thesis studies the background and current status of America’s urbanteacher residency models with the methods of philological method, historical method, casestudy method, etc. This thesis aims at arousing the attention of backward area’s teachertraining on this issue and enriching the studies on the issue in China.This thesis consists of the introduction and four other parts.In the introduction part, it introduces the reason for choosing this topic and researchpurpose and significance, and reviews the relevant domestic and international literatures.This part defines the basic concepts, explains the research method and innovative points.Part I: Production and Developmeng of urban teacher residency models in the UnitedStates.This part introduces the background of the urban teacher residency models, andanalyse the current situation of it.Part II: The construction basis and fundamental principle of urban teacher residencymodels in the United States. Mainly understand the referece standard and norm in theconstructive process of the urban teacher residency. Summarize the fundamental principles ofthe urban teacher residency.Part III: This part analyzes the main characteristics of the urban teacher residency modelsof Boston School District. It introduces the Boston Teacher Residency and its characteristic via the input and use of Fund, curriculum, implementation process.Part IV: The influence and enlightenment of urban teacher residency models in the UnitedStates. This part summarizes the influence of urban teacher residency in some aspects, andpropose the enlightenment of the teacher education reform for our country.
