"Curriculum Standards for biology of General senior high school" issued by Chinese ministry of education clearly specifies the importance of getting rid of the conservative formulation of teaching, mobilizing the students' initiatives and emphasizing the links between reality and theories. What's more, "life oriented teaching" caters to the requirements of Curriculum Standards, which is beneficial to the students' all-around development. Meanwhile, there exists plenty of problems in the current period of senior high school biology learning, such as low proportion of participation in class, homework delay, poor ability to apply knowledge, low learning initiatives, etc. The fact that materials in real life arouse more interest of the students in the process of exploiting while teachers teach is found. Therefore, the implementation of "life oriented teaching " is put forward to promote the conditions in biology teaching.Under this background, a survey was conducted among the 122 students in class 4and 5 in its second year in senior high school who were taught by the teacher. According to the statistics, firstly, the conditions of biology learning can not be considered to be optimistic, which are mainly demonstrated by low proportion of students that enjoy class, finish their homework on time, apply their knowledge to life and wrong initiatives coming from their parents, teachers and the pressure of exams. Secondly, much hope for "life oriented teaching " is represented by students. Based on this, the plan for implementing the "life oriented teaching " is formulated,which mostly permeates in the five aspects of food safety, medicine and health, environmental protection, agricultural produce and life experience. The research were done by almost a year and at the same time consistent reflection, improvement of teaching skills and methods, accumulation of teaching experience were made.Conclusions are as follows. First, certain effect of enhancing the participation in class is created by "life oriented teaching " and students do answer questions actively.Second, the phenomenon of plagiarizing is reduced and students consult their teachersand classmates for the mistakes and correct them. Third, the awareness of thinking and solving practical problems has been aroused. Fourth, the initiatives, curiosity for creatures and their behavior are enhanced gradually and they start to learn some relative knowledge. However, problems still remain in the process of teaching, based on which many suggestions are come out to prepare to further the capacity of teaching in the future.
