Life-oriented teaching refers to a kind of teaching style closely related todaily life, industrial production and social activities. It requires teachers toconstruct a lively and interesting teaching atmosphere by applying variousresources, such as typical cases in daily life, general phenomena and the dataof surveys. Students are encouraged to discover, think, analyze and solvedifferent kinds of problems actively based on their life experiences.Meanwhile they get more knowledge about life. This thesis aimed to explorethe life-oriented teaching investigation of biology in a senior high school, andsome specific aspects were performed as follows:1. To guide students entering daily life and get more experiences.2. Tocreate vivid living situations and stimulate students to ask questions.3. Toguide students to apply what they have learnt from practical life and enjoy thehappiness of application.4. To develop extracurricular activities to stimulateinnovation.5. To make models by using materials in daily life to assistteaching.6. To instruct students concerning about hot spots in society andstrengthen their responsibilities to nature and society.7. To bring scientificand technological achievements in biology to stimulate students’ enthusiasmin learning. Besides, three specific teaching cases were displayed to explorehow to apply life-oriented teaching to practice so as to achieve reasonable andeffective teaching design. The students’ reactions to the teaching wereanalyzed, and the after-class discussion was conducted as well.The research results showed that through life-oriented teaching, students’learning enthusiasm in biology has been greatly improved, and their abilitiesof proposing and solving problems have been cultivated a lot, which benefitstheir remarks as well. The author believed that it was necessary, feasible andrewarding to carry out life-oriented teaching in senior high schools. Theresearch made practical experiences for the implementation of life-orientedteaching in Senior Middle School Biology class.
