Technology always promote the development of learning in the form of change,hand-held mobile learning is the latest products in the field of information technology applied to education, it greatly facilitates learners according to their own learning needs to learn anytime and anywhere. Under the background of information technology, this research focus on mobile learning, which is based on hand-held devices in the application of junior middle school English vocabulary learning,and its application effect.This research based on the second language acquisition theories, the semantic field theory and the theory of vocabulary memory strategy. Through the analysis of the existing literature, the related research in comparative maturity questionnaire and scale, and according to the characteristics of the object, I made the questionnaire about junior middle school English vocabulary learning. Combined with the status quo of the research, I made the experimental study in Yunxi school, and divided grade nine students into experimental class and comparative class. After 8-week experiments, compared the two classes' score, I found that the students in experimental classes scores higher than that in comparative classes scores, show that hand-held mobile learning devices do have effect in the junior middle school English vocabulary learning. Through the investigation and analysis, found that hand-held mobile devices in the application of junior middle school English vocabulary learning has certain effect, but the popularity is poorer, and there also have some problems in the process of application, mainly displays in the student's reliance on equipment,network game addiction, and so on.Experimental research shows that the hand-held mobile learning can really improve the students' interest in learning English vocabulary, cultivate students to form their own learning strategies and improve their English vocabulary learning efficiency. According to the problems which existed in the experimental put forward the corresponding countermeasures: we need to improve the students' self-control,strengthen the supervision of parents and teachers to students, and intensify the promotion of hand-held mobile learning devices and software, etc. Accordingly,research about hand-held mobile devices in the application of junior middle school English vocabulary learning remains to be further study.
