This study is an investigation of the problems of chemistry class observation and evaluation in the senior middle school of Baoji city in Shaanxi province, which aims at analyzing the fundamental reason of the problems and putting forward corresponding improvement measures for the specialization of senior middle school chemistry teachers' class observation and evaluation and the acceleration of their professional development.Four kinds of research methods are adopted in this study, including literature,questionnaire, interview and observation. First of all, the author has a deep understanding of class observation and evaluation and teacher's professional development through related literature, and the questionnaire and research framework are designed accordingly. Then, the author has a basic understanding of the present situation of chemistry class observation and evaluation in senior middle school through nine dimensions, including system, implication, organization, understanding,attitude, content, motivation, procedure, and acquisition. The following conclusions can be obtained through data collection and analysis:(a) As a research activity, the open class, and class observation and evaluation have its value in chemistry teachers' professional development.(b) Class observation and evaluation in chemistry class shows a sense of utilitarianism, and its functions on chemistry teacher's professional development, training and research are not obvious.(c) The identity of school leaders have an extensive effect on chemistry class observation and evaluation.(d) The main structure of chemistry class observation and evaluation is unreasonable.(e) The purpose and form of chemistry class observation and evaluation are single and fixed.(f) The evaluation process of observation and evaluation is according to chemistry teachers' will.(g) Some chemistry teachers' understanding of the characteristics of chemistry class are not enough.(h) Some chemistry teachers are unclear of the concept of effective teaching.(i) The system of chemistry class observation and evaluation is imperfect.The following suggestions are put forward on the basis of the related results:(a)The first one is complete the system of chemistry class observation and evaluation.(b)The second one is improve the implementation process of chemistry teacher's class observation and evaluation.(c) The third one is cultivate chemistry teacher's professional knowledge and teaching skill as a whole. This study has a positive effect on the quality of Chemistry teacher's class observation and evaluation in Baoji city of Shaanxi province, and it can improve their daily teaching activities and promote chemistry teacher's professional development. Moreover, the author tries lead other researchers and scholars to treat class observation and evaluation as a research activity more than a teaching activity through this study.
