Study On The Status Of Cultural Consciousness Of Contemporary University Students And Countermeasures

To study the cultural consciousness of contemporary university students and explore effective approaches of enhancing the cultural consciousness of university students is the inherent requirement of the strengthening of the education of socialist core values,as well as the intention of the construction of socialist cultural power. This paper insisted that the cultural consciousness of university students,from a broad sense, refers to the awakening and recreation of some culture by university students as the individuals of cultural inheritance,based on the cognition and understanding of the national culture. The cultural consciousness of university students not only includes the profound understanding of the functions of culture in the historical progress,but also the correct grasp of the cultural development rules,as well as the initiative undertaking of responsibilities,such as the cultural inheritance, cultural development and cultural innovation,etc. Based on previous researches of the connotation of cultural consciousness,cognition levels and development rules of the cultural consciousness of university students are explored by combining the law of understanding of the dialectical materialism. Cognition levels,including the cultural self-awareness,cultural introspection and cultural innovation, advance and interact gradually, presenting the development process of the cultural consciousness of university students. Theoretical research of cultural consciousness of university students conforms to the comprehensive Marxist development thought of humans,on one hand, which is favorable for promoting the progressive thought and mental health development of contemporary university students. On the other hand, especially in the context of the globalization,the multi-cultural integration and collision grows increasingly fierce,and the study on theories on the cultural consciousness of university students will contribute to the reinforcement of the dominant position of mainstream culture in China, enhancement of the stability of contemporary university students in the ideological field, and construction of socialist core value system. In addition, the strengthening of related theoretical research on the cultural consciousness of university students is also of great significance in boosting the construction of socialist culture and harmonious socialist society. Various problems in the cultural consciousness of contemporary university students are learnt in questionnaire surveys by focusing the basic connotations and several cognitive levels of the cultural consciousness, for instance,insufficient self-awareness of the traditional culture and socialist culture,vague understanding of the diversified western culture, lack of the sense of cultural crisis,cultural innovation and action, etc. The contemporary university students are the new force of socialist modernization construction in China,and it has been reflected by the historical experience and practices that the cultural consciousness of university students is critical and importance. By aiming at the survey results, the author has analyzed reasons for the insufficient cultural self-awareness of university students,lack of cultural self-awareness and lack of cultural innovation one by one,and also attempted to explore effective approaches of reinforcing the cultural self-consciousness of university students from the social level, school education, family education and university students themselves,etc.
