For young college students being the main force of the intellectual and the core force of the construction of the future, it is of vital significance to cultivate and improve their cultural consciousness. However, the situation of the cultural consciousness of Chinese college students is depressing. They present a tendency of the desalination to identify the national culture, lack the cultural self-confidence and self-consciousness. Therefore, it is of important theoretical and realistic significance to cultivate their cultural self-awareness and strengthen their cultural self-confidence to construction of cultural power, realize the great China dream.We can find ways to cultivate the college students’ cultural consciousness from the point of view. Firstly, we should define the relevant concepts. Based on the concept of the cultural conscious, we can define scientific connotation of the concept of the cultural self-consciousness as well as that of the college students. Thus we can pave a way for the following work. We can analysis the desalination of the cultural consciousness, especially the patriotism being challenged, according to the law of the college students’Physical and mental development. The national spirit is the spiritual motivation and support for the constantly growth of the nation. To promote the national cohesion can help improve the students’cultural self-consciousness and self-confidence. Under the background of diverse culture, the youth’s mainstream values come under attack, the social core value is to be challenged, thus increasing the students’ability to chose the culture. In the face of the constantly culture conflict between the west and the east, the popular things cause the fact that the culture can not provide its real value. Besides, the college students themselves lack the consciousness, thus they do not have strong reflective ability. The active students have strong demand and expectation for the culture. However, the construction of the campus need to be improved, this situation is not conform to the university spirit that supposed to be, causing a lot of vulgar culture on campus. Under such a condition, it brings difficulty to cultivate the college students’cultural self-consciousness. Therefore it must be enforced to cultivate the consciousness. We should adhere to the unity of the nationality and times, and the unity of inheritance and innovation, and the unity of dominant and diversity.
