Current Investigation Of The Freshman Seminar

In our country,the freshman cannot adapt to the academic atmosphere quickly in college because of the disadvantage of the teaching mode in high school.They lack of the spirit of doubting and critical thinking.It has become a focus for the researcher that how to help the freshman transition from high school to college successfully.The freshman seminar will be a important role in this transition.In the course called freshman seminar, teacher and students will have a discussion or a debate on the topic which they are all interested in.It is helpful for the students to build the spirit of doubting and critical thinking and getting rid of passive learning.The author reorganize the history of the freshman seminar and analyze the situation of the freshman seminar at home and abroad in this research.Through the comparison with the freshman seminar at abroad,the author will give some advice on how to make the freshman seminar more successful.This research will be five parts:the first part is introduction, including research origin?research purpose?concept definition?literature review and the research methods;the second part is the history of the freshman seminar at home and abroad;the third one is about the current situation of the freshman seminar at America;the forth part is the current situation of the freshman seminar in Southeast University;the last part is the advice on how to make the freshman seminar more successful.
