Freshman seminar is defined by a small seminar course that the university professor specifically opens for the freshman. Universities enhance communication between teacher and student and help freshman change their learning style, so as to achieve the transformation of the mode of teaching and learning through the seminar teaching mode of the freshman seminar. The seminar teaching mode require the teacher host a subject of mutual interest, and through the interaction between the teacher and student, student can study and discuss in a small group. The seminar teaching mode puts forward new requirements for teachers’ teaching and learning of the students. The key of the seminar is to promote interactive teaching between teacher and student, and the effective teaching interaction is the key that the freshman seminar can achieve good results. Therefore, it is very important to probe the present situation and problems of the teaching interaction of freshman seminar and proposes the strategy to improve the effective teaching interaction of freshman seminar.The research analyzed the interactive teaching from the communication perspective and presented the characteristics of the teaching interaction of freshman seminar, which is based on the theory of communicative teaching. The investigation on the teaching interaction of freshman seminar is within the framework of the analysis of the theory. The research divides the teaching interaction into t teacher-students interaction and students’ interaction by the interactive subject, and mainly used the method of observation and interview. The observation contents include six aspects, student subjectivity, the form and content of interactive teaching, the goal of interactive team, the sharing of team information, the assignment of group role. The interview contents included the relevant data of teaching interaction of freshman seminar that have been opened and explanation of teacher and student for the present situation of teaching interaction of freshman seminar. The study found that the deficiencies of freshman seminar through analysis of the present situation of interactive teaching of freshman seminar combining with the theory of communicative teaching. Such as the insufficient of the student’s subjectivity, the teaching contents cannot take into account the inquiry and the difficulty, the lack of interaction of teaching interaction form, and the students’ interaction form become a mere formality inside the team. Through the analysis, research thought the reasons that hinder effective teaching interaction of freshman seminar are teacher and student who are the subjects of teaching interaction. In order to promote effective teaching interaction of freshman seminar, research present strategies from aspects of the teacher’s teaching idea and teaching interaction skills and students’ learning attitude and cooperative consciousness.
