At the beginning of this century,in order to improve the quality of undergraduate teaching,stimulate the students' interest and motivation,and promote the development of students' thinking ability,the new seminar came into being.Freshman seminar advocating for group discussion under the guidance of the professor,new interest inspired research and exploration in the active participation and full communication,learn the scientific way of thinking and research methods,cultivate innovative consciousness and innovation ability,the successful completion of high school from the stage to the university stage in learning and psychological transformation and adaptation process.This study is based on the multiple angle of view of university teachers,students and school administrators,the use of quantitative and qualitative research methods,learn from foreign experience,combined with the practice of domestic universities for college freshmen seminar course,put forward the improvement measures,to promote the quality of college freshman seminar course promotion.Based on the summary of the research,this paper first summarizes the seminar of freshmen.The freshman seminar background,summarizes the characteristics of the new curriculum research,analysis and the course evaluation theory and evaluation mode of four historical periods,in order to find the theoretical basis for the appropriate curriculum evaluation.Secondly,the quantitative analysis of the research data of freshman seminar.Based on the basic elements of curriculum evaluation,evaluation of the five dimensions of questionnaires from the curriculum objectives,curriculum content,teaching methods,curriculum implementation,analysis,implementation of freshman seminar.In this paper,600 college students of Jiangnan University,Nanjing University,Zhejiang University,Shanghai University,more than 4 students were investigated.The results show that: the students think that the overall implementation of the freshman seminar is better than the traditional teaching mode.In the curriculum objective,through seminars for freshmen,students explore consciousness has been strengthened;in the curriculum content,teacher curriculum content selection is not fully consider the needs of students;in teaching methods,teaching methods in general,teachers can use seminars;in the implementation of curriculum,students on the key and difficult course of study the master is not in place,part of the students' participation is not high;in the course of evaluation,the students are satisfied with the teaching effect and students are satisfied with their performance in the course.Thirdly,the qualitative analysis of the freshman seminar.From the perspective of teachers,students,school administrators to conduct interviews,to further understand the implementation of the new curriculum.By using grounded theory to analyze the interview materials,the author finds out the practical value and existing problems of the seminar.University freshman seminar practice value is mainly reflected in: to stimulate students interest in learning,broaden the students' scientific outlook;to promote the transformation of teachers' teaching methods,teachers and students build on the teaching community;led by small class teaching,improve the students' learning enthusiasm.The main problems are: some teachers did not change on the freshman seminar class;students in freshman seminars learning form has not been fully adapted,the school security mechanism of freshman seminar is not perfect.Finally,based on the current development of university freshman seminar and the existing problems,on the basis of analysis of the Harvard University and the Princeton University freshman seminar experience,put forward the following improvement strategies: first,give full play to the guiding role of teachers in curriculum and instruction.Including the establishment of the development of curriculum objectives,grasp the direction of curriculum construction;curriculum content selection guide,improve the level of curriculum quality;using the diversity of teaching methods,guidance measures to optimize the curriculum;implement supervision of course,improve the teaching quality of service;To build a diversified curriculum evaluation mode,reflecting the scientific and effective assessment.Second,strengthen the cultivation of freshmen's interest and habit.Including strengthening the cultivation of students' interest to meet the individual needs of students' development,pay attention to the change of learning habits,and promote the development of students.Third,improve the security mechanism to enhance the level of school curriculum management.Including strengthening teacher training and curriculum evaluation,establishing effective teacher supervision and student evaluation mechanism,establishing and perfecting the guarantee mechanism,improving the management quality.
