| Scientific literacy has become one of the essential qualities of modern people. Since the scientific literacy is put forward, it has become a hot topic of the world. Because of the complexity of the scope and the content of scientific literacy, it’s diverse and difficult to assess students’ scientific literacy. Researching how to assess the fourth grade primary school students’ scientific literacy is helpful to make our country’s assessment of primary school students’ scientific literacy more standardization and the scale increase as soon as possible. In this study, the assessment design and implementation are based on ECD model of the American education evaluation system. In domain analysis and domain modeling layers, analysis and summary the scientific literacy assessment of NAEP and TIMSS, and China’s primary school science curriculum standards. In conceptual assessment framework layer, it contains using textbooks published by Jiangsu Education Publishing House design Student Model, using sample science questions of the fourth grade from NAEP in 2000,2005,2009 and TIMSS in 2003,2007,2011 design Evidence Model and Task Model, combined with present situation determine Assembly Model, Presentation Model and Delivery Model. In assessment implementation and assessment delivery layers, assessment delivery depends on the Four-Process Delivery Architecture. Finally, data in Task/Evidence Composite Library is analysed. The results show that different classes’ students’ performance is different in Life science, Physical science, Earth and Space science, the number of students who get very high scores of scientific literacy is still too little, and most students are in medium level. In the dimension of science cognition, students’ performance in the level of Knowing and Applying is better, and in the Reasoning level is slightly less. It is suggested that students’ scientific literacy assessment should be more systematic, in order to carry out horizontal and vertical research on the scientific literacy of primary school students in our country. |
