Aiming at improving public’s scientific literacy, cultivating innovativetalents equipped with learning ability, our ultimate goal for educational reform is toachieve education modernization. Although the public’s scientific literacy has beenimproved during recent years, comparing to western countries, we still have a long wayto go. Worse still, the development is in an unbalanced situation in urban and rural areas.Speaking of basic education, it remains an important and consistent task to foster thepublic’s scientific literacy since childhood.Served as a scientific form of education, robot activity plays a key role inimproving students’ scientific literacy, which is what we endeavor to prove in this thesisby using actual examples. We will analyze the tactics of such techniques in promotingthe students’ scientific literacy, and provide practical cases in improving middle schoolstudents’ scientific literacy. As a result, to accumulates experience and providesscientific support for basic education reform.According to “problem-solving” method, our study design the “problem-solvingdriven” operating model, which would create a relax atmosphere, provide a harmonious,interesting platform for the students, encourage them to put forward relative questions,and elaborate on these question. Through their own study and discussion, find outvarious ways of solutions. Moreover, by learning from each other, studends wouldfinally find out the best solution, enable them to learn through practice.In upper grade of primary school, the procedure of robot teaching activity is“situation'problem'guidance-solving'best solution”, which means, under somecertain teaching circumstances, the teachers put forward one problem after another, andin the process of solving these problems, the students acquire relative knowledge, whichfocus on the process of problem solving. Furthermore, there are always more than oneway to solve a problem, thus give us multiple answers. Students are encouraged tocompare these answers and find out the best one.The result of using such model on robot activity education turns out to be veryeffective:1. In the robot activity, the students could integrate in a short time; they couldsummarize relative knowledge by themselves through practical activity.2. The students could make practical use of what they have learned, or evengenerate some new knowledge, which have their own characteristics, not prepared by the teachers in advance.3. In the robot activity, the students are encouraged to try, to learn from theirmistakes, thus cultivate their scientific sprit and positive attitude.4. Such comprehensive high-technical platform could also improve the students’innovative spirit, allowing them to turn the creative ideas into practical designs.Great deal of practical cases had proved that our “problem-solving guidance”teaching model used in computer robot teaching activity remains an effectiveeducational model. It played a positive role in scientific literacy cultivation for primaryschool students.
