At present, with constantly in-depth advancing of basic education reformation by China, secondary school also gradually began to change from examination-oriented education to quality-oriented education, quality-oriented education focus on fostering students' innovative spirit and practical ability, strengthening practical teaching to meet the “quality-oriented education” requirement. Combination of geography's teaching and practice to conform to the practical features of geography subject, to in line with practical requests and spirit advocated by geographical curriculum standards of secondary school and to accord with trends in geography teaching reform. In recent years, the research object of geographical practice teaching focused more on urban or national scope, however, studies on the problem of geographical practice teaching in local township middle school is clearly insufficient. For this reason, this paper adopts questionnaire method and interview method to study current situation of rural middle schools' geographical practice teaching, revealing existing problems in geography teaching in rural middle school, and propose optimization strategies. Research results provides reference value for improving geographical practice teaching in rural middle school.This article is divided into five parts, the first part is the introduction part, the research background and significance, domestic and foreign research status, research ideas and methods, and so on.The second part is the basic part of this study, including the definition of the concept of the township, practice teaching, the classification of geographical practice teaching, as well as the theoretical basis of the theory of Geographical Practice Teaching and so on.The third part is the investigation and study part, the paper expounds the current practice of geography teaching in rural middle schools. This content is divided into two aspects, on the one hand, the current situation of the rural middle school geography practice teaching analysis, the survey of the basic situation of the introduction and according to the survey results of the summary statistics. On the other hand, the analysis of the problems existing in the practice teaching of Geography in rural middle schools, it is clear that there is a weak sense of practice in the current rural middle schools, teachers' implementation of the curriculum standards and teaching materials is not in place, and the geography teachers' own practical skills are insufficient, lack of practical activities of the evaluation mechanism, the degree of attention to the school of practice teaching is not enough, the form of work failed to highlight the practical problems and the reasons behind the analysis.The fourth part is to put forward the countermeasure part. Corresponding measures are put forward in view of the problems existing in the current township middle school geography teaching practice, to carry out school practice teaching conditions of practice teaching pilot, and gradually extended, developed practical activities in the teaching guidance book, strengthen the integration of local geography and practical teaching, to strengthen the school attention and support to the teaching practice, the establishment of geography teachers and practice assessment mechanism, pay attention to the training of knowledge practice etc.The fifth part is conclusion. This paper illustrates research's innovation points and achieved breakthroughs, and the research prospect of rural middle schools' geographical practice teaching were forecast.
