Based on new course standards, ideas and practice of fine arts basic education in elementary and secondary schools, combined with the research status and future development prospects of fine arts teaching in elementary schools at home and abroad, the paper presents a discussion on the research significance of fine arts story teaching in elementary schools. The study was inspired by a wonderful "Getting close to mother tongue" education seminar- "The lamplighter of reading", which mentions the link between language and art, the fun teaching generated from between a painting, a poem and a story. The author intends to analyze and solve problems through thinking and teaching observation. Based on the application status of story teaching in fine arts discipline in elementary schools, it was found that story teaching was often used in other disciplines. For fine arts discipline, its application is less and not complete or systematical in the implementation of teaching. Combined with the available research experience, the author explores new ideas and implementation strategies for fun "story teaching", so as to change the traditional teaching model and create an open learning space. In this way, it helps teachers effective organize story teaching activities, so as to stimulate students' study interest, enrich their creative content, promote students' physical and mental health development, improve students' language expression ability and integrate real art education into daily life. This article mainly consists of five parts:Part 1: According to influence of the new curriculum reform of fine arts education in elementary and secondary schools, the research origin, purpose & significance, ideas & methods, literature review, the basic definition and research innovation points were put forward.Part 2: First of all, interviews on elementary school fine arts teachers were conducted so as to understand the application status of "story teaching". Then, the methods of story teaching were discussed. Next, through questionnaire survey, elementary students' needs on "story teaching" were learned. Moreover, the advantages and disadvantages of story teaching were learned.Part 3: By concluding & organizing the methods of "story teaching", the basic forms in realizing "story teaching" were put forward including: the methods of integrating "story teaching" in fine arts classes in elementary schools, how teachers shall choose stories to conduct fun teaching, and make use of the multimedia teaching to convey the visual and auditory feeling, so as to promote students to better express their painting language, making the story teaching content richer and with more fun.Part 4: Hunan version elementary school grade-2 and grade-6 art courses were selected respectively to carry out case design and implementation of "story teaching".Part 5: According to the teaching implementation effects, class teaching evaluation and reflection was conducted. Teaching experience was summarized. And the "story teaching" methods were further improved, laying a good foundation for achieving effective teaching.
