Art area activity is one of the key components of area activities in kindergarten.Art area activity can well remedy the deficiencies of collective art activity,and it is very important to the development of the children.In order to know the status quo of art area activities,to further carry out the basic spirit of A Guide to the Learning and Development of 3-6 Years Old Children,and to better use art area activities to comprehensively promote children's development,the practical situation of the art area activities among children aged 4-5 in Y kindergarten is observed and analyzed in accordance with pedagogy,psychology and art theory.During this research,observation-summary sheets are applied to record and describe the space layout of art area,the supply of art materials,the practical activities of the children,and the guidance of the teachers.The problems in current kindergarten art area activities are summarized based on the observations,the causes of these problems are analyzed,and countermeasures are provided.Totally,there are five parts of this research.The first part is the introduction,mainly presenting the reason for choosing this topic,the literature review,the definitions of related concepts,and the theoretical basis.The second part is the research design,which discusses the purpose,significance,object,and the method of this research.The third part is about the research status,in which the existing problems of art area activities in Y kindergarten are described and analyzed from four aspects: the space layout of art area,the supply of art materials,the practical activities of the children,and the guidance of the teachers.In this section,observation-summary sheets and interviews are used to analyze the practical conditions of the art area activities.The forth part is about the problems and causes based on the findings collected through observations and interviews.The main problems are as follows: the space layout of art area is simple and short of artistry;the material supply for art area activities lacks of variety,and the materials are arranged arbitrarily,resulting in the lack of hierarchy and efficiency,and low usage rate;the children present poor independence in art area activities,and their works are short of creativity and their activities are of low quality;the teachers present untimely instructions in monotonous ways,and lack of specific guiding purposes.According to the analysis and findings of this research,the main causes of the above problems can be concluded from four aspects: teacher's attainments of art and teaching;the recognition,management experience and capacities of the management department;the recognition and attainments of parents or family members;personality differences of the children.In the fifth part,tentative countermeasures are proposed,such as to change teachers' ideas,improve their professional abilities,enhance the recognition and related capacities of the management department in kindergarten,improve the material procurement mechanism in kindergarten,organize more trainings for the teachers,attach more importance to the design and establishment of art area,try to change parents' opinions,and so on.
