Physical education plays an essential part in the high education system and has irreplaceable effect on training comprehensive high-quality personnel compared with other subjects. Physical education can develop only if we dedicate great effort to construct the group of universities and colleges PE teachers. Hence, this thesis takes universities and colleges situated in Beijing as study samples; strives to analyze current motivation mechanism and its influence in universities and colleges excluding PE colleges; attempts to put forward constructive suggestions according to the problems and reasons behind. Fortunately this thesis would exert good effect on understanding and promoting motivation mechanism of PE teachers in universities and colleges at present.By choosing the motivation mechanism of gym teachers from ten universities in Beijing as the study object, this thesis investigates and analyzes the gym teachers motivation mechanism in universities through methods of documentation, questionnaires, expert interviews, mathematical statistics and logical analysis; summarizes sorts of the motivation mechanism and its effects; figures out the problems and reasons of current motivation mechanism on the basis of relative information of economics, management and social science.After the research programme designed deliberately above, the thesis comes to the following conclusions:firstly, besides those PE colleges, gym teachers in Beijing universities and colleges do not have high satisfaction nowadays; secondly, there are several problems in motivation mechanism:single means of motivation, lack of autonomy, deficiency of elimination mechanism, incompleteness of performance evaluation system, lower status of PE teachers. Thirdly, this thesis holds the opinion that the difficulty of motivating gym teachers comes from the relationship of "Entrust and Surrogate" between teachers and colleges as long as the particularity of PE teachers. Therefore we attempts to bring forward some solutions to promote the motivation mechanism from perspectives of defining motivation object, two satisfactory conditions of best motivation, improving avenue of promotion, making arrangements of personnel system better, and constructing emotional incentive mechanism. We sincerely hope to promote the PE teachers motivation mechanism in Beijing universities and colleges, add gym teachers job satisfaction and initiative and help our physical education develop more healthily.
