Research On The Relationship Between Residents' Behavior And Community's Activity Spaces Based On Behavioral Observation

In recent years,there exist lots of social problems of China's community,such as lack of activity spaces,low communication between neighborhoods,and these issues were gradually become social focus.“Opinions on further strengthening the urban planning and development management” was be issued by Chinese government in February 2016,it clearly states that open residential mode will be used as the future construction mode of community,and the mode of gated community will be prohibited in the future residential construction,meanwhile the current gated community need to be opened gradually.This research aims to find the differences of the planning layout between gated community and block community(open-gated community),as well as analyzes the differences of residents' behavior of these two communities,thus this research is not only explores the relationship between residents' behavior and community's space structure,but also discusses the relationship between residents' behavior.Due to the different planning ideas,there exists some differences of community's space structure between gated community and block community.Firstly,this research focuses on the distribution of residents' behavior on weekend afternoon,and conduct a comparative study on residents' behavior in different ages in both communities,and to find the relationship between residents' behavior and community's space structure.Secondly,due to the behavior of residents in different time periods are also different,and residents are preferred to do activity in community's activity spaces,so this research divides the environment of activity spaces into three parts: hard paved area,green area and waterfront area,and observes residents' behavior in different three time periods: weekday afternoon,weekday evening and weekend afternoon.Finally,based on the concludes of activity spaces' characteristic and summarizes the residential requirements about activity spaces environment,this research puts forward some suggestions on how to optimize activity spaces.This research has instructional significance for the planning and improvement of activity spaces in gated community and block community.Meanwhile,this research also has positive effects on promote community vitality and neighborhood communication.
