Japanese history is one of major subjects of universal history.In the period of ROC,there were Japanese history courses in universities.In addition,there were the subjects of Japanese history in Asian history and oriental history.As the reference of studying the history education in the period of ROC,this paper pays attention to researching the education of Japanese history in that period from the teaching system,the features of teaching content and the faculty.The introduction of this paper reviews previous research results.In this part,the paper points that previous research results are lack of the study of the institutional building and the stage division of Japanese history education.Meanwhile,systemic researches are absence because it is insufficient to the textbooks of Japanese history.This article is divided into three chapters in addition to the introduction and the appendix.Three issues of are respectively discussed.In chapter one,the article focuses on the curriculum of subjects of Japanese history.The education of Japanese history in the phase of New School and the phase of new academic structure are explained separately.After reviewing the beginning,the article divides the education of Japanese history in the period of ROC into three stages according to the chronological order,size and character.The three stages are the phase of slowly growing(1912-1927),the phase of sparkling(1928-1937)and the phase of arduous development(1938-1949).In chapter two,the article follows with interest in the textbooks of Japanese history.This chapter analyzes the compilation and substance of the textbooks by some cases such as Liu Yizheng's Japanese history,Chen Gonglu's the general history of Japan,Lu Jie's the outline of Japanese history and Wang Tongling's oriental history.By comparing with aforesaid textbooks,the writing attitudes and principled stand of authors,the viewpoint of historical stages and the resource of documents are discussed.In chapter three,the article focuses on the teachers of subjects of Japanese history.It is an overview of the teachers of Japanese history and points out that the teachers have some common features such as advanced degree,experience of overseas study and frequency of removal.The case study of Wang Xinzhong,Li Zongwu and Wang Jiwu show the interaction between times and individual academic activities.In the appendix,there are three tables about the curriculum,textbooks and teachers of subjects of Japanese history.The general situation of Japanese history education in the period of ROC are presented directly by the tables.
