A Survey Of The Current Situation Of English Teachers' Development Environment In Hahhot From The Perspective Of Ecology

Ecology is the systematic science that studies the relationship between living things and environment.It studies the relationship between man and nature,and teachers' development has been concerned by many educational researchers.The main purpose of this study is to understand the general situation of the environment for English teachers' development in senior high schools in Hohhot and explore the different perceptions and needs of teachers in different ages,then take corresponding measures to improve it.Therefore,the author makes an investigation on the 41 teachers of three high schools in Hohhot.This research mainly uses the questionnaire survey and the interview methods to carry on the investigation.First of all,through the questionnaire survey of 41 English teachers in Hohhot,the current situation of the environment of English teachers' development in Hohhot was studied.Secondly,the author makes a further analysis on the questionnaire of teachers at different ages in three schools and find out the different understandings and needs of teachers at different ages.Then,the results of the questionnaire are further supported through the interviews with 3 English teachers.Finally,the results of the survey are analyzed and some reasonable suggestions are put forward.The general situation of English teachers' development environment in Hohhot is as follows:(1)Most of the teachers are satisfied with the interpersonal environment and teaching environment.(2)Most of the teachers are concerned less on the latest news on English,and there are few number of published papers.Moreover,although they are interested in doing research,they don't have tome and energy.(3)Most of the teachers are dissatisfied with the school and reform environment,and as for the reform,most teachers agree,but teachers say little in the reform,and the reform is unrealistic.(4)Teachers are satisfied with their living conditions,but there are still some teachers are satisfied with the current situation,have low standard for their development.Besides,teachers hope to increase their salary.Through the comparison of the environment for ETPD of different ages,the difference can be found:(1)In the interpersonal environment,the teachers under the age 40 are not satisfied with their relationship with colleagues and leaders,while the teachers between40-50 feel stressed with students.(2)In the teaching environment,Most of the teachers between 40-50 have low teaching motivation and 40% of teachers between 40-50 feel they have too much work and they are tired,and most of them consider teachers' evaluation mechanism as the most important factor in improving their teaching,and other teacher all choose the positive interaction with students as the most important factor.As for the challenge,most of them choose students,but still 33.3% and 21.1% of the teachers under40 consider the competition among colleagues as the biggest challenge,and most of them consider further studying as the most beneficial factor.However,most of teachers under40-50 consider teaching activities as the most beneficial one,and most of teachers under50-60 consider students' feedback as the most beneficial factor.(3)In the research environment,teachers between 30-40 are more interested in it,but the teachers under the age of 40 concerned less on the latest trend on English.(4)In school and reform environment,most of the teachers agree with the current education reform except for the teachers between 50-60 and most of them think that the reform don't have much influence on their teaching,only some of the teachers between 30-40 stated that it has great influence in them,besides,most of the teachers under 30 and between 50-60 feel that the biggest problem in the reform is that teachers can't say much in the reform,but most of the teachers between 30-50 think that the reform is away from reality.As for the school environment,most of them think the school system is conductive to their development except for the teachers between 40-50.Most of the teachers stated that school often carries out beneficial activities,and they are actively involved,except for the teacher between50-60.Most of the teachers under 40 stated that schools don't often provide teachers with opportunities for further study and training,and teachers between 40-50 stated that school always provide opportunities,but teachers between 50-60 think that it can't meet the actual needs.(5)As for the living environment,there is little difference between teachers of different ages,but teachers under 30 have a relative low career pursuit.Through the above analysis,the following conclusions are obtained:(1)Teachers shouldcorrectly deal with the environment of their development,change the negative factors,and create a good ecological environment for their development.(2)Schools and related departments should provide favorable conditions for teachers,consider the different needs of teachers of different ages,walk into teachers' life,listen to their views,and create good environment for teachers' development.
