In recent years, with the rapid development of China's economy and society, social culture and sports also gradually and the world. Tennis as a new sports elective course teaching by teachers and students in Physical Education in Colleges and universities,more and more college tennis elective. However, tennis elective course students,teachers, students' physical quality is uneven, weak foundation, plus venues and equipment and so on many problems, resulting in tennis elective course teaching effect is often not satisfactory. According to the actual situation of tennis elective course teaching, optimize tennis teaching, develop a more reasonable and optimized teaching methods, is a very important realistic problem.Through the image teaching method, using multimedia sound, image, video and other specific, intuitive, vivid teaching methods of tennis teaching process in modern style, to attract the attention of students, improve the technical level of the students.Change the former tennis teaching, teachers mainly according to their own experiences and feelings, through the explanation and demonstration methods to carry on the teaching, the limitation of the number of teaching content is difficult to present, in ordinary colleges and universities of physical education in tennis elective course as a point of departure, groping shaped like a teaching method is suitable for sports teaching in Colleges and universities, and hope to enhance the ordinary university sports elective course teaching quality and teaching effect. This paper adopts the methods of expert interview, mathematical statistics, literature material, questionnaire survey and so on.The research results are as follows: the traditional teaching method and the image teaching method are compared:(1) in tennis elective course teaching, experimental group make full use of the students imitate ability, image memory and learning differences in the ability of using different image teaching methods, the students basic skills of tennis scores were higher than control group with a conventional teaching. In College Tennis Elective Course Teaching in the use of image teaching method is feasible.(2) and conventional teaching methods and learning methods compared, image teaching method is a reduced the difficulty of teaching methods, through the image of language, body movements, multimedia video and other media to strengthen the stimulation exercises, make students intuitive feel of tennis technology features, fromthe internal external guidance, prompting the body to play a strong muscle memory,more effective to improve practice quality.(3) image teaching method combining vivid language to describe the complexity of the specific growth, conforms to the psychological characteristics of students, to stimulate students' learning enthusiasm and interest in tennis. Tennis teaching activities carried out by the method of image teaching, not only can let the students a lot of exchanges, mutual assistance, but also expand the imagination space thinking ability of students, cultivate students' life-long sports consciousness, enable the student to obtain the full development.
