The Influence Of Of Trans-association Pair On Table Tennis Sport

The world’s table tennis competition has long history, and we are very familiar with the Doubles events. Usually, the two players of a pair come from the same country or association; the trans-association pair, which is made up of players from different associations, is not common comparatively. The trans-association pair can be traced to1977. Chinese play Yang Ying and Korean player Park Yingyu as a pair won the Women’s Doubles of World Table Tennis Championships, Birmingham of England. In1995, Croatian player Zoran Primorac and Belarusian player Vladimir Samsonov won the Men’s Doubles of World Table Tennis Championships, Tianjin of China. The ITTF,however, banned trans-association pair since 1995. In 2014, China proposed to resume trans-association pair, which was supported by Germany, France, and some other world powers of table tennis. The ITTF approved it and enact the proposal of trans-association pair in May, 2014. World Table Tennis Championships, Suzhou of China witnessed the restoration of trans-association pair system. Thomas Victor, the president of both German Table Tennis Federation and International Table Tennis Federation, also applaused this proposal and held the view that trans-association pair system will enhence the cooperation of different associations and the publicity of table tennis.Thomas Victor’s words have come true. We saw several famous trans-association pairs like Xu xin and Liang xiayin, who also won Mixed Doubles of WTTC. The trans-association pair not only means the cooperation of different players and associations, but also represents China’s contribution to development of table tennis.The ultimate goal of China’s table tennis is by no means the championship, but the sustainable development of sports that may sacrifice part of China’s benefit. Based on trans-association pair system, this thesis will illustrate the reason of restoration and the impact on the whole table tennis.
