This paper focuses on the novice teachers' development in a professional learning community,including novice teachers' self-recognition of their attitudes towards the job,supporting surroundings and the shared environment between novice and experienced teachers.The author tries to explore how the novice English teachers grow in the professional learning community.The author takes three novice English teachers in her school as the research object.This thesis,which covered an academic year,investigated three novice English teachers in her school through questionnaire,observation,interview and novice teachers' self-reflection to answer the following three questions:(1)What are the anxiety and expectations of the junior English novice teachers' professional development and why?(2)How do the junior English novice teachers manage identity transformation,knowledge conversion capability,the relationship between teachers and students and what are their ways of putting theory into practice and adapting to the school culture?(3)How do the junior English novice teachers develop in a helpful environment of school,teacher leadership and experienced teachers?By means of questionnaire,observation,interview and analysis of novice teachers' self-reflection,this study gets the following conclusions:(1)Novice teachers' awareness of the necessity of professional learning community;(2)Novice teachers' self-reflection changing theory into practice and knowledge into ability;(3)Experienced teachers' mentoring roles are quite important.(4)Peer learning between the novice and experienced teachers for professional development.(5)Novice teachers' desire for the school's administrative support is so strong.The thesis found that supporting surroundings such as leadership,school culture,atmosphere of mutual respect are crucial to novice teachers' development.In the harmonious school culture atmosphere,the three junior English novice teachers develop in different aspects.One developed in dealing with students in the process of implementation from zero to zero breakthroughs.Another developed through learning,reflecting the inner world constantly and internalizing practice knowledge for professional growth.The third novice teacher developed through taking an active part in showing demonstration classes to externalize his existing professional development.Besides teachers' identity of their own job and subject knowledge,experts in professional learning community,sharing teaching stories among colleagues,sitting in each other's class and having discussion play a very important role in promoting English novice teachers' development.
