Children period is a very important period in the process of personal growth,the children experience tremendous changes in physical and psychological.The children join into the companion group from family,they need the respect and acceptation from the companions.While,there are some children cannot make good contact with the companions,they have the problem of companion alienation which affects their behavior and psychology seriously.The problem also has an impact on their self-development and social integration.Therefore,this study focuses on the palliation of pupils' companion alienation,it will clarify the status of their companion interaction and analyzes the problem of companion alienation,then the methods of social work will be used to intervene the improve the problem.This study selects 50 pupils in one class in fifth grade of Nanjing Yuemin Elementary School as the object with the methods of cluster sampling,then it uses the methods of questionnaire and participant observation and interview to know the status of their companion interaction.On the one hand,the study will find if the problem of companion alienation is existing and how it manifests,on the other hand,the study will find out the causes of the problem.The study finds that some of the pupils really have the problem of companion alienation,they lack of companion interaction,keep away from group activities and feel loneliness.After in-depth analysis of the problem,the study finds that the causes of the problems come from the pupils themselves and the effects from family and school as well,for example,the environment of family and the education in school.On the basis of the investigation,the study selects 6 pupils who have the problem of companion alienation as group members,development mode of group work will be used to intervene their problems.Six group activities which called 'We are together','Me in my eyes','I want to know you more','Skills to learn','Scale new heights hand in hand' and'Tomorrow will be better' are implemented to palliate their companion alienation and enhance their abilities in companion interaction.In addition,the study selects a special pupil as individual case client whose problem is affected by his early experience.The study uses Psychological and Social Treatment to intervene the problem,it helps the client to solve the problem by correcting his wrong acknowledges,exploring his inherent advantages and constructing his supporting network.This study assesses and rethinks each link of the intervention to sum up the experience and inadequate,it assesses the effects of the intervention through two aspects,one is if the target is reached,the other is if the client has improved.In the end,this study compares the group work and individual work through the service program,professional skill,the role of social worker and the effect of service.The results shows that though the methods are different,they both contribute to solving the problems of pupils' companion alienation and the study suggests the two methods can be used to solve the problems of pupils' companion alienation together in the future.Overall,the problem of pupils' companion alienation has been well solved,which can be seen from the process and results of the intervention and social work is a very effective way to solve the problem of pupils' companion alienation.But there are also some difficulties existing,this study rethinks the ethics and the role of social worker in the process of the intervention and it suggests that social workers should improve the skills,handle the problems of transference and counter-transference and foster a professional social worker image in the intervention in pupils' companion alienation in the future.
