| Currently,the number of children with autism in China has been rising year by year,and it is projected that more than 2 million children have autism.Since there is no complete cure,children with autism require long-term care and rehabilitation,which can have varying degrees of impact on autistic families and society as a whole.Mothers,as the primary caregivers of children with autism,are coming into the focus of many researchers.Research findings in the literature have shown that peers are one of the important sources of social support,allowing parents with similar experiences to share their parenting experiences together and providing mutual emotional support and encouragement through other parents of children with autism,but currently mothers of children with autism receive significantly less peer support.Based on the above status quo,this paper applies social-ecological system theory and social support theory to study the current dilemmas and existing support for mothers of autistic children.Combining the analysis of questionnaire results and interview results,it is found that mothers of autistic children face not only economic pressure,but also mental pressure,and moreover,they face problems in terms of family relationship tension and social discrimination.Therefore,the author designed this group work practice to build a mutual support network of peer support for mothers of autistic children through six group activities so that they can release their stress,get support and have a chance to breathe and relax.In order to provide a better space for the future survival and development of autistic children and to improve the current difficulties faced by parents of autistic children,the author proposes to carry out epidemiological screening of autistic children,improve the policy support for autistic children,establish a mutual help organization for autistic caregivers to enhance the link with society,and improve the professional capacity of social workers themselves. |
