The Practice And Influence Of The Alumni Mentor Program

With the increasing of college alumni activities,alumni value connotation is expanding.Universities know that alumni's influence on the development of the students is more important than its' financial and material resources.The past of alumni is the student in school,and the future of student is the alumni now,alumni is the teacher and friend of the student.The special relationship between alumni and student also is the necessary prerequisite for the implementation of alumni mentoring program.This article embarks from the student's point of view,through summarizing the universities' website,which have implement alumni mentor program,and interviewing alumni,student,and related staff,to answer the following three questions:1.How is the alumni mentoring program implementing?2.What is the alumni mentor program's influence on the students,alumni and university?3.What are the obstacles in alumni mentor program,and how to improve?This paper argues that,although some universities have involved in the alumni mentor program more or less,few of them know alumni mentoring program perfectly and persistently.No matter the degree of importance,professional staff,service consciousness,or the organization and management,the implementation of the alumni mentor program still needs to be further perfect.Therefore,the author puts forward that universities should take the following measures:implementing the staffs,arranging information,recognizing pairing,refining the task,establishing evaluation mechanism.
