The study will investigate the students' autonomy in Shanghai during the period of the Republic of China,as known to all,Shanghai in that time showed the most prominent conflict between Chinese and Western culture.On the basis of the design of the framework of the article,it mains to describe the historical clues and the important events of students' autonomy.Students autonomous in Shanghai,the author tries to describe students autonomous during the period of the Republic of Shanghai,reveal the western university spirit behind student autonomy,which is of academic independence,freedom of thought identity,on the other hand,with the modernization of republic of China,students' autonomy in Chinese schools,it includes some contradictions and conflicts between Chinese and Western culture,such as,secular and feudal,East and west,for the intersection of Shanghai,it was particularly outstanding.The students are the core of the study,more deeply,the core questions is to investigate how the students participate in the process of school management and social services,movements.Meanwhile,how social and political changes influence student autonomy in Colleges and universities in Shanghai.Specifically,the paper will focus on two types of student autonomy,the first one is the students autonomous under the school governance,the second is student autonomous under the social participation,both of them are not isolated,they are mutual construction and influence but to a certain extent,even conflicts and contradictions.Although the student autonomous system established in the country,but the Shanghai,the diversity of social class structure,which are so different from other cities,it makes students autonomous in Shanghai appear more complicated than other areas,such as students' autonomous participation,enthusiasm levels and types of schools,and schools represent the political forces are closely linked.For the interpretation of this complexity,this paper will try to use narrative research and case studies,focusing on the process of students' participation in autonomy and the school,the public opinion on the controversy.Finally,the paper will return to the school management,disclose the profound historical influence of students' autonomy from the views of Chinese democratic modernization process profound,campus governance,in response to the current campus culture construction,for the present situation of students lack of democratic consciousness cultivation.
