What Kind Of Induction Training Do The Primary Novice Teachers Need

Being a novice teacher is a key period in teachers' professional development.In order to promote novice teachers to adapt to teaching works as soon as possible,Shanghai has been carrying out the Standardized Training Programs for New Teachers since 2012,The training period is one year.This paper reveals the problems of primary novice teachers in the process of entry adaptation through the research of the implementation of this training,explores how the training facilitates the induction of primary school teachers and attempts to answer what kind of induction training is needed for primary novice teachers.In order to achieve the purpose of research,this paper combines qualitative and quantitative research.In-depth interviews were conducted with 20 primary novice teachers and questionnaire were given to 173 primary novice teachers who have participated in the training.The main findings of this research paper were as follows.Firstly,it was found that novice teachers struggle to flexibly organize teaching content,lack teaching wit and knowledge of teaching language.The training program attaches great importance to teaching,observation lessons,demonstration lessons,and mentoring to promote the adaptation of novice teachers.However,the training doesn't pay enough attention to the plight of some specific teaching practices.Secondly,in classroom management,novice teachers treat theory as a rigid creed,and can't handle the relationship between tolerant atmosphere and discipline need,and emphasize external control for students but neglect developing students' self-discipline.Classroom management training is also relatively lacking,and mainly depends on training from head teacher and teaching training.Finally,current training attaches little importance to interpersonal relationship training.Novice teachers are prone to confusion in the process of dealing with the relationships between students,and it is difficult for them to deal with some special students.They have more harmonious relationships with colleagues,but communication with parents of students can be difficult.Teachers rely mainly on informal communication to be appointed.Based on the above findings,the article argues that future training can be improved from the following aspects.In terms of teaching,the training should meet the specific teaching needs of teachers such as teaching language.Future training can be based on curriculum as a carrier,and form a community of practice.Henceforth,the management training should be systematized and the effectiveness of classroom management should be strengthened.In the future,the training should include the interpersonal communication skills into the training courses,standardize the "consultant" duty of the tutors,and help form a natural cooperative culture in the school.In addition,the training should focus on cultivating the consciousness of lifelong learning,enhance the ability of novice teachers' learning and reflection,and lay a good foundation for the teacher's continued professional development.It is also necessary to establish a comprehensive partnership between universities and primary schools to promote the balance of theory and practice in the process of teacher training.
