With the development of the curriculum reform,each textbook version has added a plenty variety of adequate quality illustrations in every subject of middle school.As a result,the related research of it also increased year after year.At the present,the research of illustration mostly focus on the teaching strategy,the teaching effect,the function,and the classification in domestic.These researchers mainly from the summary of experience who use the textbooks,so it is not systematic.In addition,these researches are mostly studied from the aspects of teaching and the illustrations.There are few studies having the students in mind,which concern about whether students can recognize the information of illustration,and whether students can understand the contents of illustration.And hence,the study surveyed the seventh grade students' information recognition of biological textbook illustrations,and analyzed the features which appeared in the process of illustration recognition.Some students of two seventh grade classes of the affiliated middle school of Nan Chang normal university was selected for this study.This study surveyed the information recognition situation of the biological textbook illustrations by grade seven students before and after teaching,in which process teacher paid particular emphasis on illustration teaching.We used the eye tracker records students' focus in the process of observing illustration,then compared with the preset key points which put by the textbook editor,to survey weather students can recognize the information of illustration before and after teaching.In addition,we probed students weather can accurately describe the illustration information after teaching by interviewing.Thus understanding the seventh grade students how to recognize and interpret biological textbook illustrations.The results as follows:(1)Students who already can mainly identify the key points of illustration in before teaching,but,on the whole,the extraction of illustration information is incomplete.(2)Students extract different quantity of information from different types of illustrations.Generally,students can extract the information more complete which illustrations have less information and more closer to life.However,they can extractless information from illustrations those explain the abstract principle.(3)Students interpret illustrations depend on the note text which beside the illustration.They lack independent thinking and analysis.(4)Students pay less attention to the name of illustration.(5)Students focus more attention on the note text of illustration,and the specific location which note text point on in the illustration.students ignore the illustration is a whole.They can not understand it by connecting the contents of illustration with the life.
