With the constant advancement of the economy of Shanghai and the increasing opportunities of foreign communication,the way of entering schools has become more diversified.The time point of education streaming has been brought forward to the middle school.After graduation from the middle school,the intention of entering school mainly include:going to the senior high school(general senior high school,key senior high school),entering the International Class of Senior High School(International School),going abroad,entering vocational school,obtaining employment directly.In recent years,in order to meet the need of students' entering schools,the Shanghai Municipal Government has been constantly enacting new policies of entrance exams,regulating the occupational education and supporting the Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run schools,which make efforts to provide the students with a fairer educational opportunity,more diversified entrance options and better educational environment.The public schools,as the dominant schooling form,have been deeply praised by the Shanghai citizen.In general,the students of public elite schools are always more excellent and have advantages in the entering of schools.However,the relevant study on these students are absolutely poor.Thus,it is necessary to approach the students of public elite schools and understand their entrance options.This paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is an introduction which mainly presents the reason,existed research achievements,the purpose,the target and the approach of this research.The main body of this paper consists of three parts:the research design and practice(chapter 2),the research data analysis(chapter 3),the research materials and discussion(chapter 4).Combining the method of qualitative research with the method of quantitative research and taking the students and teachers in Grade Three as the research objects,this paper makes the survey based on the students' entrance intention and the follow-up entrance choice.Based on the massive primary sources,this paper does research of the entrance intention of students of public elite schools in Shanghai central area and analyzes the sources and the influential factors of the entrance intention of students.According to the research,this paper further discusses the attitudes of the students towards the key senior high schools,the college entrance examination,the international education,the vocational education and the students'autonomy level and the future study expectations.Chapter 5 is the conclusion of the research.The conclusion includes the following aspects:(1)The order of current entrance intention of students of public elite schools is:going to the key senior high school,going to the general senior high school,going abroad,entering the International Class of Senior High School,entering vocational school,obtaining employment.(2)The order of the most influential factors about entrance choice is:the entrance situation,score-ranking,school ethos,the achievement of the comprehensive ability,the quality of faculty,the future employment prospects,school environment,hardware facility,the distance between school and home,charging situation.(3)There is a positive correlation between the entrance intention and the students' grades but the impact of the objective factors of family situation is not big.(4)Most students of public elite schools can make a choice of the school entrance by themselves but in low autonomy level in general.(5)The entrance intention exerts little influence on the actual study situation and the study of students mainly relies on teachers and the classroom teaching.
