With their dependence on information about social life and the globalization of the world economy, people are increasingly aware of the importance of learning English. In terms of the senior high school students,English,as one of their important subjects,is quite necessary for students to enroll the ideal university and achieve their dreams. Therefore, how to improve students' achievements? There are many scholars who make a discussion about learning strategies.Note-taking as one of the learning strategies,it is worthy to explore whether there exists the correlation between students' notes and their achievements and what's the difference between students in note-taking.Besides,both students and teachers haven't paid related attention to the notes according to author's experience. Therefore, this research aims to explore whether English notes can improve students' achievements and whether it should be focused on through identifying the correlation between the students' notes and their English achievements. At first,on the basis of the analysis of researches on note-taking home and abroad, the author finds that some scholars involved in the note-taking attitude, habit, methods and review, but they didn't discuss their correlation with students' English achievements. However, notes play an important role during the process of students' learning,so this research tries to analyze from above four dimensions of note-taking.Meanwhile,it also introduces the definition of note-taking and its four dimensions and theories used in this thesis. What's more,in terms of the research design, the subjects of this study are 175 senior high school students from The High School Affiliated to the Inner Mongolia Normal University. This study collects the data through the questionnaire, students' notes and interview.Besides,it mainly wants to explore the following two research questions according to the four dimensions of questionnaire which include note-taking attitude, habit, methods and review. The one is what the correlation is between the students' notes and their achievements. The other is what the difference is among the low group medium group and high group in note-taking.Thirdly,this study analyzes and discusses the difference of students who are in different learning levels in note-taking by applying the descriptive statistics, correlation analysis,One-way ANOVA analysis, constructivism and theory of meaningful learning. The conclusion can be got from four dimensions of note-taking.Firstly,it can show that there is a low correlation between students' English achievements and note-taking attitude, habit, methods and review(r<0.4).The correlation between students' achievements and their attitude to note-taking is stronger than the other items.Secondly, the low group students have a difference with the high group students in the attitude, habit, methods and review of note-taking.And then, there is a difference between the low group students and medium group students in note-taking methods.Besides, there is no difference between the high group and medium group in note-taking.Therefore,teachers should pay appropriate attention to the notes.Students should make notes work by holding a positive attitude, developing a good note-taking habit and having effective methods and review of note-taking.At last,it also describes the limitations of this thesis in order to give future researchers a reference in this field.
