The high-speed development of information technology and internet technology brought great changes of education and emerged numerous new learning ways,especially the most popular one—mobile learning.Definitely,M-learning,as the extension and development of E-learning,has more advantages and breaks the limitation of places and time so it can happen at any time and place.Besides,it?s characterized with randomness,informality,flexibility and universality.Also,it emphasizes student-centre in learning process and fully arouses learning enthusiasm.Vocabulary learning in senior English learning phase is seen as both the most significant learning content,and the most intractable problems in English learning of senior high school students.From 2000,domestic experts did considerable researches about technological development of mobile learning,platform design,execute solution,adult education,higher education and their performance.A large number of considerable researches about mobile learning of vocabulary have been done by domestic experts and meanwhile they also have gained valuable and referential achievements,but defectively,there are only a few researches about mobile learning that is used in vocabulary learning of senior high school students.Therefore,under the background of situation above,the author aims to study the current vocabulary situation of mobile learning of senior high school students in Hohhot,investigating problems they meet when they use mobile devices to learn English vocabularies and raising several high-feasibility,objective and practicable suggestions,which is to some extent of great realistic significance.The respondents of this research are 165 senior 1&2 students who come from three senior high schools in Hohhot,using the method of combining questionnaire investigation with interviewing method.The main research questions include: What are senior high school students? opinions about mobile learning of vocabulary? What is the overall situation of mobile learning of vocabulary for senior high school students in Hohhot? What are the current advantages and disadvantages of mobile learning of vocabulary for senior high students?The qualitative research and quantitative research are conducted in this research.Firstly,relevant data are collected by questionnaire survey and interviews.Data are analyzed by Statistics Product and Service Solutions(18.0).And multiple-choice questions use multiple dichotomy method while single-choice questions use frequency analysis.Additionally,the interviews of teachers and students are analyzed to dig for more data and information about mobile learning of vocabulary.On the basis of the analysis of questionnaire survey and survey results,the research conclusions can be concluded as follows: smart phone is viewed as the most popular mobile device learning vocabulary during senior high schools.This mobile learning way is seen as a universal,unconscious and frequently-used learning way by most senior high students.But only a small part of students attribute their improved learning efficiency to mobile learning of vocabulary.Certainly,a majority of senior high school students keep the view that mobile learning of vocabulary will have a broad development prospect.The problems of mobile learning of vocabulary are: the construction of campus network is relatively backward.Regional Wi-Fi will not be extensively advocated.The cost of mobile learning of vocabulary is relatively high.The quality of learning resources is less than satisfactory.Still most senior high school students are not aware of the importance of mobile learning of vocabulary and they don?t master learning strategies of mobile learning of vocabulary,more than half teachers and parents keep conservative attitude towards mobile learning.The following suggestions are put forward according to the survey result: from the aspect of schools,they should rapidly build campus network,Wi-Fi and open high-quality online classes of vocabulary teaching,design e-reading columns involved in English songs,films and college entrance examination,set up mobile libraries,hire professional workers to operate network maintenance,encourage teachers to do more scientific researches about mobile learning of vocabulary.From the aspect of students,students should have the awareness of mobile learning of vocabulary and informal learning with the help of teachers,gradually cultivate their habits of mobile learning of vocabulary and learn to choose proper,effective and systematic learning software.As for the teachers,they must shift away from the traditional teaching idea to creative and new teaching idea.More emphasis should be put on the advantages of mobile learning of vocabulary.At the same time,they?d better try to use modern mobile devices,bring mobile learning of vocabulary into traditional teaching in teaching practice and especially combine the advantages of two sides.Meanwhile,encourage more parents to participate in mobile learning of vocabulary and help them realize the benefits of mobile learning so that this new way of vocabulary learning can get more and more support and develop very smoothly in future years.
