It is reported in "Opinions of the Ministry of Education on Further Strengthening the Work on Homeroom Teachers in Primary and Secondary school(2006)":Educational administrative departments should bring trainings of homeroom teachers in primary and secondary schools in the teachers' training programs.Trainings of homeroom teachers should be well planed and both pre-job and on-the-job trinings should be organized effectively.Homeroom teachers are in charge of daily educating and managing students at school.Facing adolescent students,homeroom teachers in middle schools should guide their students to be physically healthy and serve as a role model of their students' life.The role of homeroom teachers in junior middle school is important and requires professionalism.Therefore,it is necessary that the homeroom teachers receive continuous support of knowledge and skills through professional training programs.It is important to study school-based in-service training of homeroom teachers.This research took homeroom teachers of six Korean minority middle schools in Yanji as subject investigated and data was collected by literature,questionnaires and interviews.This research focused on training objectives,contents,methods,evaluating indicators,support from schools,training institutions and the teachers joining training programs.This research aimed at grasping problems about school-based in-service training,analyzing affecting factors of the problems and providing suggestions on how to optimize and improve the training.So that it can provide some very favorable reference for organizing school-based in-service training for homeroom teachers of Korean minority middle schools in Yanji.This research came to these conclusions as below based on questionnaires and interviews:1.The problems about school-based in-service training of homeroom teachers in middle school still exist:unclear objectives,poor contents,relatively simple Methods,lack of effective evaluating indicators and lack of initiative of teachers.2.Enthusiasm of teachers for joining and the effect of trainings are affected by support from schools,training institutions and the teachers themselves.Suggestions are made to solve these problems:Firstly,the executives of the schools should improve incentives to encourage the homeroom teachers to attend training programs and provide more training opportunities for the teachers.Detailed plans and disciplines should be established to make sure that trainers do understand and can fill the needs of the trained teachers.Secondly,the training institutions should set clear objectives,fill the homeroom teachers' real needs,vary the methods of training and set up perfect systems for evaluating training effects.Thirdly,the teachers should value the training and improve their abilities through the training.
