Analysis And Strategies Of The Competitiveness Of Children's Ice Hockey Training Industry In Beijing

Thanks to triumph of bidding for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games,as well as the goal of “encouraging 300 billion people to participate in winter sport activities”,winter sport activities has been drawing overwhelming attention of the public in China.As one of the host cities,Beijing has made some plans for developing winter sport activities,regarding ice hockey as one of its major projects.As a result,the industry of children's ice hockey training has also become a hot area,which has a benefit for the promotion of mass sports and winter sport activities.To pave a way for this industry,analyzing its current competitiveness is a necessary task.This study focused on the competitiveness of the industry of children's ice hockey training in Beijing.Based on the theories of Comparative Advantage and Competitive Advantage,as well as the Diamond Model of Michael Porter,this study conducted a thorough analysis on the current competitiveness of this industry,including the factors of production,market demands,relative industries,business strategies,instructions and competition,governments and opportunities,with methods of literature study,interview and field study.The main results of this study are as follows:(1)There are competitive advantages in all of 6 factors of the industry of children's ice hockey training,while there are also some disadvantages in the factor of market demands and business strategies,instructions and competition;(2)Advantages in the factor of production includes excellent geographic and economic conditions and tradition of winter sports,attraction of human resources,and ice arenas in a great amount;(3)Advantages in the factor of market demands are an increasing number of children getting ice hockey training,a huge potential market and a high consumption level residents in Beijing,while there are also some disadvantages in this factor – its market's volumn is limited.(4)Various ice hockey games among children and the retailing industry of the ice hockey equipment are the advantages in relative industries;(5)As for the factor of business strategies,instructions and competitions,there are both advantages and advantages existing in it.Advantages includes numerous children's ice hockey training clubs,diverse business marketing strategies and fierce competitions among those clubs;Disadvantages are the phenomenon of product homogeneity,chaotic competitions and the missing industry standards;(6)A series of policies and plans are the advantages in government factor;(7)The most important opportunity for this industry is the triumph in bidding for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games;(8)Based on the current competitive condition mentioned above,this study suggest that it is a must to improve the qualities of coaches and teaching system,as well as enhancing the promotion of ice hockey to attract more social capitals.A series of better ice hockey games for children and relative industries are also badly needed for this industry.Finally,policies and standards with a more specific explanation,as well as seizing the opportunity of holding the 2022 Olympic Winter Games are also necessary task to be done.
