An Investigation On The Use Of Task-based Teaching Method In English Reading Teaching In Junior High School

Reading is an important part of English learning and teaching.Since the New English Curriculum Standard advocates TBLT,it has become the focus of the academic in China.In recent years,many people have explored the feasibility and validity of TBLT in English reading,which is the basis of English reading teaching.However,it is relatively rare for the researchers to make the implementation of TBLT in English reading teaching.Is TBLT suitable for English reading teaching in China?What is the current situation of TBLT applied in reading in China? What are the problems when TBLT is applied in English reading? These problems are worth reflecting.Therefore,the author would investigate the current situation of TBLT in English reading teaching in junior high schools so that it can be applied better in English practice.The objects of this paper are the students and the teachers of the eighth Grade in NO.4,NO.16,NO.14,and NO.15 junior high schools in a certain city.This research employs questionnaire,interview,class observation and case study as the research methods.First of all,650 questionnaires will be distributed to the students and 39 questionnaires to the teachers in these four junior high schools in order to find out the problems and the current situation of TBLT in reading.Then,interview,classroom observation and case study are carried out as the supplement to find out more problems and the reasons.Finally,some suggestions will be proposed.This paper analyses the results and gives the suggestions from the perspectives of the students,the teachers and the objective factors.It attempts to give a hand to the junior high schools' students and teachers and meanwhile give some enlightenment to the subsequent researches.
