With the continues development of modern education,class becomes the main front of applying the New Curriculum Standards.The application of class-discussion method can not only stimulate students' learning passion but also can enhance the interaction between teacher and students.What is more,class-discussion method plays a significant role in cultivating students' learning ability,creativity and cohesiveness.However,there do exist some problems,which may hinder the function and effectiveness of the method.Therefore,the writer conducts a survey on the current applied situation of the method and analyze the problems from the following perspectives: the topic of the discussion,groping mechanism,participant degree of the teacher and students and the summary and evaluation.After finishing the analysis of current questions,the writer proposes the specific operation strategies.Normalizing the content and practice of discussion from geographical teaching and exploring teachers' method of organization and instruction in class discussion are benefit for enhancing teachers' awareness on the use value of the method.The suggestions above can greatly promote and optimize the application of the method and thus will benefit the geographical curriculum reform.The present study consists of six parts.The first part is about the introduction,in which the author put forward the questions and comprehensively states the research stats at home and abroad.Besides,the purpose and significance of the study and the research methodology are proposed here.The second part mainly talks about the basic connotation of class-discussion method.It elaborates the main features and theoretical foundation of it,which provide theoretical basis for its application.The third part presents the necessity of class-discussion method's application in geography class.The writer presents it from the following aspects,they are the requirement of new curriculum reform,students' characteristics of psychological development and subject property of geography.The next part describes the research instruments,for example,the questionnaires for students and interview on teachers,and the writer's own teaching experience.With the help of the instruments,the writer easily concludes the questions in using the class-discussion method.Part five proposes the relevant strategies through case study.Specifically,in the preparation phrase,teachers ought to elaborately design the topic of the discussion and instruct students to collect data.In the discussion part,it is significant for teachers to confirm reasonable grouping mechanism and actively participate the discussion.Besides,the learners also need to learn how to listen,raise question and give feedback.At last,it is essential to make a summary timely and give appropriate evaluation.Part six presents a case study based on the previous research on class-discussion method,besides,the writer verifies the result and gets satisfied answer.
