Noted for its elegance and fashion,tennis meets the needs of body building,recreation and social exchanges.The past few years witnessed a booming development of tennis in China.A growing number of people especially students in colleges and universities become terrific enthusiastic about it,thus making tennis one of the most popular elective sports courses.With the acute increase of tennis players in universities,the existing teaching model cannot keep up with the teaching demand,teaching reform and teaching p hilosophies that keep renewing.The old model falls behind and harms students' motivation.To satisfy students' need,a reasonable and effective teaching method has become quite an important goal of teaching reform.Nowadays,as tennis prevails,the teaching methods,concepts and etc.should be frequently updated and the reform of teaching model is quite urgent.The research of this thesis introduces the new “play & stay ” teaching method which enables students to get started quickly and offset the disadvantages of tennis court and equipment by adopting reasonable methods and improving the hardware.The guiding concept is Q uick & Easy plus Enjoyment,aiming to transform the teaching model of tennis course on campus.The research methods of this study include literature review,questionnaire survey,teaching experiment and mathematica l statistics.The subjects are members of Hebei Normal University tennis club.The tennis teaching experiment is conducted with 30 students selected as experimental group a nd 31 students as control group.Quick & Easy tennis teaching method is applied to the experimental group,and traditional method is applied to the control group.After the experiment,skill assessment of equal standards is conducted to both groups and the results are compared and analysed.The results of the survey and experiment show:1.Most teachers still adopt the traditional,monotonous teaching model and stick to the old steps in methods and philosophy with no teaching innovation.2.The experiment result shows that students from the experimental group perform obviously better than the control group in terms of command of tennis skills and physic grades that reach the standards.3.After the comparison and analysis of dates from experiment and questionnaires,a conclusion is drawn that there is a significant difference between the experimental group and control group.That's to say,the experimental group is better than the control.4.It is recommended that traditio nal tennis teaching model should be adopted during the phases of basic movement learning and technological advancement to consolidate the skill formed and strengthen the standard.
