Experimental Study Of "Play And Stay" Teaching Method Applied To College Tennis Elective Course

With the tennis sport extremely widespread in colleges and universities, tennis elective course has become a popular choice of physical education. However, it is difficult to meet the students needs because of limit of tennis fields, professional tennis equipments and traditional teaching methods. Based on such background, this thesis will introduce tennis teaching method of the Play and Stay into colleges’ tennis elective course. It uses the methods of historical documents, expert interview, questionnaire, and mathematical statistics and at the same time it chooses NingXia University’s six classes to do teaching experiments in order to compare the Play and Stay tennis teaching method with traditional tennis teaching method. It aims to prove feasibility of using Play and Stay tennis teaching method in colleges’ tennis elective course and provide the reference for how to improve quality of teaching of colleges’ tennis elective course.This thesis is based on the comparison of the teaching process of the experimental group and the control group and combined both groups’differences in situational interest, motor skill and the effect of body exercise.process. Here are the following main conclusions:1 The teaching method of Play and Stay improves the situation where there are more students than tennis courts according to changing the size of tennis courts and dividing different parts of field. It is more suitable for the tennis course of the collective teaching mode.2 For beginners, it is more easy to learn tennis skills by using Play and Stay tennis teaching method.3 Play and Stay tennis teaching method makes learning process more cheerful, and it can stimulate students’interest in tennis and mobilize students’ enthusiasm and initiative.4 Using Play and Stay tennis teaching method makes students learn the skills of hitting tennis by forehand and backhand faster and students can practice with partner earlier.
