Objective: Comparison of GPS Mobile Software and Accelerometer Software in Smartphone to Measure the Accuracy of Energy Consumption in Walking and Running,so as to provide the reference for the sports enthusiasts in the choice of GPS mobile software and improve the application of the smart phone's acceleration.Methods: The subjects were 45 college students of Sichuan Normal University Institute of Physical Education.Subjects wore 4 mobile phones and then walking / running at4 km / h,6km / h,8km / h,10 km / h speed around the 400-meter playground respectively,which speed last 5 minutes.Among the four Smartphones,one iPhone5 C mobile phone installed three GPS-class sports software(Dongdong,Ledongli,Gudong)was placed in the right trouser pocket of the subject.Three HongMi mobile phones installed the accelerometer mobile software(Physical Toolbox)were placed on the right side of the upper arm of the subject,the right coat pocket and the right side of the waist respectively.While using indirect calorimetry K4b2(as a calibration)to measure the energy consumption.Results: 1.The result of Paired-T test showed that there were more than a half(16/24)significant differences between the mobile software and the calibration.2.The total energy consumption measured by each mobile software is highly correlated with the calibration(0.779?R?0.929).3.Bland-Altman coherence analysis showed that there were no more than 3 datas out of the coincidence boundaries of all 60 datas,within 5%.The mean difference between calibration and Dongdong,Ledongli,Gudong,the arm's phone,the coat pocket's phone,the waist's phone were-2.7,1.7,-4.4,-1.9,-0.3,-2.2 respectively.In the 10 km / h speed stage,among 15 arm's phone datas,14 datas were located above the mean difference line,and all 15 datas of Dongdong were below the mean difference line.4.Walking 5 minutes at the speed of4km/h,the maximum difference(absolute value)between all mobile softwares and thecalibration was 9.66 Kcal,the average value of each software and the calibration was less than 30 Kcal.Conclusion: Using the accelerometer in the smart phone to measure walking/running energy consumption is feasible.The result of energy consumption of the two kind methods are in good agreement with the calibrated values and the accelerometer-class mobile phone software is slightly better than the GPS mobile phone software.In the three GPS-class mobile phone software,Ledongli is the most accurate.When using the mobile accelerometer to measure walking/running energy consumption,compared to the phone located in the coat's pocket and the phone located on the waist,the measured data at the arm is less stable and the most accurate position is located in the coat's pocket.Taking into account the energy consumption characteristics of movement,using mobile phone software to measure energy consumption of short-range or short-time cyclical movement is not scientific.
