With the development of Chinese society and economy,the domestic junior high school’s education pays more attention to cultivating students’ integrated language ability.With the development and the progress of English teaching quality,the classical and traditional teaching method not accommodates the development of times and it doesn’t meet the requirement of the social demand.So at this time,a novel teaching method should be investigated to promote students’ comprehensive development.The classical and traditional teaching method means the teacher only concentrates on the accuracy of the language points and focuses on the learning results rather than paying attention to students’ communicative ability and their learning process.In 2001,our country promulgated the new English Curriculum Standards which advocated the learning method of experiencing,practicing,participating,communicating and cooperating,and it also suggested that Task-based Language Teaching(TBLT)should be applied in class.In 2011,our country implemented the Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standard(experimental draft).Task-based learning method was commonly used in English teaching class.At the same time,English teaching material Go for It! has been largely accepted by most teachers and students.TBLT was originally proposed by Indian linguist Prabhu in 1987.He was regarded as the founder of TBLT,and he was the first person who attempted TBLT in classroom.He supplied the theoretical foundation for the follow-up study of TBLT.Afterwards,Yalder(1987),Nunan(2004)continued developing Prabhu’s theory.They make it more successful.In China,TBLT was first applied in Hong Kong.With the times developing,TBLT method is inclined to ripe.Although the researches of TBLT have received many achievements,in recent years,there are few results about combining TBLT method with the teaching material Go for It!.This research intends to combine TBLT method with textbook Go for It! together in order to explore the new English learning method which is more suitable for junior high school students.This research mainly picks up the instruments such as questionnaires,teaching experiments,interviews and tests.The subjects are 128 junior high school students in grade seven in the Affiliated Middle School of Jilin Normal University.The students are divided into two classes.Class one is the experimental class.The author utilizes TBLT teaching experiment in this class for 16 weeks.Class two is the controlled class.The author makes use of the traditional method in this class.Before the experiment,the author gives the questionnaires and pre-tests to all students in both classes so as to acquaint the present situation of junior high school students’ English learning.At the final stage,the author makes interviews and questionnaires to experimental class students in order to learn the effect of the experiments.Finally,the author gives the post-test to all students both in experimental class and controlled class in order to examine the differences between the two classes and then draws the conclusion.This research mainly explores the following two questions: 1)What is the current situation of junior high school students’ English learning? 2)What effects do TBLT have on junior high school students’ English learning?According to the analysis by synthesis,this research comes to the following conclusions: 1)Most students are interested in learning English,but are obscure about TBLT method,and the teachers should guide them positively.2)TBLT methods help students improve their scores.3)TBLT teaching method improves students’ learning interests.It cultivates students’ consciousness of collaboration and communication,and it develops students’ team spirit.
