| Vocabulary is the basic and important part of English teaching in senior high school.Nowadays most of English classes still employ teacher-centered vocabulary teaching mode,in which teacher explains and students take notes.However,with the implementation of new curriculum reform,it is imperative to seek a set of more scientific and efficient English vocabulary teaching pattern.Interactive mode based on constructivism is a student-centered teaching mode by which students achieve constructing knowledge positively and actively under teachers’ guidance and inspiration through the interaction between teacher and students,students and students,reader and text.Therefore,the study attempts to do the research on applying interactive mode to English vocabulary teaching in a senior high school.Based on the research background above,the research questions are summarized as follows:(1)Will the constructivism-based interactive mode stimulate students’ interest in vocabulary learning?(2)Will the constructivism-based interactive mode improve students’ vocabulary learning strategy?(3)Is the constructivism-based interactive mode more effective in improving students’ vocabulary test scores? The experiment adopted the form of contrast groups and two classes of Grade One took part in the experiment in a senior high school.The teaching experiment lasted for nearly three months.The experiment class was taught by interactive mode and the control class adopted the traditional vocabulary teaching mode.The results of questionnaires and interview indicate that after the same teaching period,students in the experiment class have the stronger interest in vocabulary learning than before,and attach importance to relevance between vocabulary and English learning and are more dedicated,confident and satisfactory towards vocabulary learning.Compared with control class,the students in experiment class improve their vocabulary learning strategy after experiment.The comparative results of post-test in experiment class and control class show that students’ achievement in experiment class is improved a lot.These findings are expected to broaden the way of vocabulary teaching and offer more practical reference. |
