Nowadays,the phrase “key competency” has undoubtedly become a hot expression in terms of education.And the emergence of the concept swiftly gave rise to new trends of thought in teaching and research of various curriculums.Teachers of different curriculums started to explore the key competency in thire own curriculums.Chinese language curriculum has been cherished as the foundation of all basic curriculums.But what are the connotations of its key competency?More importantly,what are the ways to develop students' key competency in Chinese language curriculum?All these constitute the new problems causing in-depth explorations in the academic arena.In order to get a comprehensive knowledge about senior students ‘key competency in Chinese language in primary schools.the author of this thesis conducted a research project on the present state of primary students' key competency in Chinese language by means of literature review,interviews and questionnaires.First of all,this thesis gives theoreticall explanations on the relevant connotations of key competency in Chinese language curriculum.In addition,the author of this thesis has carried out a study on the present state of primary students' key competency in Chinese language curriculum by means of questionnaires.And the author has also come up with an analysis on the results of the survey.In conclusion.the author explores the strategies in developing primary students' key competency in Chinese language curriculum.Through the survey,the author of this thesis has discovered that there are several problems causing researchers' attention in terms of primary students' key competency in Chinese language curriculum: 1.Primary students display low language competency.2.Primary students show defects in reasoning ability.3.Primary students have problems in esthetic concept and the appraisal of things.4.Primary students lack the competency to inherit and impart traditional culture.In summary,the factors leading to primary students' lack of key competency in Chinese language are as mentioned below:The first reason is themisleading ideology in running the school;the second reason is the lack of teachers' key competency;and the last is the insufficiency in the focus of students' key competency in compiling the textbooks.In accordance with such causes,the author of this thesis advances the following tactics to come up with a solution to the problem :Firstly,the school should set up the right ideology for education;Secondly,school teachers should further develop their own key competency;Finally,more focus should be put on students' key competency in the designing process of a textbook,such as the choice of the contents and the seting of goals.
