Starting in the 1920 s,the May 4th New Culture Movement has already been written into the middle school history textbooks.The academic circles often understand the May 4th New Culture Movement from the broad sense,which is different from the middle school history textbooks.The May 4th New Culture Movement are usually divided into two in the middle school history textbooks and understood from the narrow sense.Before the founding of the People's Republic of China,the May 4th Movement was commonly defined as a generic mass movements in the middle school history textbooks,and was not amount to much.Comparing with the May 4th Movement,the contents of the New Culture Movement in the middle school history textbooks were even fewer.This period of middle school history textbooks thought the New Culture Movement is the third innovation movement of China,namely the "cultural revolution".After the founding of the People's Republic of China,great changes of the May 4th New Culture Movement in the middle school history textbooks have taken place.At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China,the May 4th New Culture Movement in the middle school history textbooks had a strong revolutionary discourse and class argument.The May 4th Movement was a Anti-imperialist and anti-feudal revolutionary movement,the Beginning of the New Democratic Revolution,and became the important content of the textbook.The New Culture Movement was a Bourgeois democratic revolution.To the May 4th Movement as the dividing line,the New Culture Movement was divided into two stages,the first stage of content democracy and science,the second stage of the content was the spread ofMarxism-Leninism.For more than sixty years,the basic content of the May 4th New Culture Movement has not changed in middle school history textbooks,but the revolutionary discourse and class argument have become less and less.After the nineties,the May Fourth New Culture Movement has a new content in middle school history textbooks.The change of the May 4th New Culture Movement in the history textbook of middle school was deeply influenced by many kinds of factors.The author tries to explore the characteristics of this change and the reasons behind it,hoping to provide reference for future history textbook writing and history education.
