History textbooks are the most important curriculum resources in education,and also the channels to explain historical cultures and to cultivate civic consciousness.The expressiones of historical events by history textbooks are the reflection of the will of the state and the refraction of the trend of times.Boxer Movement,from the late 19th century to the early 20th century,was the most influential historical event in the world.It was also a key point in history textbooks.This article aims to explore systematically the expressiones in the history textbooks about Boxer Movement during the Republic of China era,and analyze the similarities and differences of the narratives in different editions of the same period.Furthermore,the paper also includes the changes of the junior middle school history textbooks in different periods,with a view to grasp the characteristics of Boxer Movement and to provide reference for the preparation of the current history textbook.The full text consists of four chapters.The first chapter introduces the significance of topics,the movement of academic history,the methods of research,the innovation and deficiencies.The second chapter analyzes the historical background of history textbook writing during the Republic of China era,which is also the factors influenced the expression of the meaning of the history textbooks.This article divides the period of the Republic of China into two stages:the period of Beijing government and the period of Nanjing national government,summarizing the political conditions,education policies,social thoughts and some other factors in these two stages and exploring the influences of these factors on the compilation of history textbooks.The third chapter specifically discusses the representation of Boxer Movement in the Junior High School history textbooks during the period of Beijing Government.This paper collects three representative textbooks of middle school history in this period,and analyzes the characteristics of the Boxer movement in terms of form and content.The fourth chapter expounds the middle school history textbook "Boxer Movement "during the Nanking National Government.This paper has collected more than 10 kinds of history textbooks in junior high school,summaries the similarities and differences of Boxer Movement's content and text structures in the different versions of textbooks through statistical analysis.On this basis,this paper further explore the reason for the formation of Boxer Movement differences.At the end of the essay,the paper sums up the similarities and differences and the advantages and disadvantages of the expression of the Boxer Movement in the history textbooks of junior middle School in the period of the Beijing Government and the Nanjing National Governments,so as to reveal the characteristics of the statement about the Boxer Movement in the middle school history textbook during the Republic of China.
