Singapore was founded in 1965,it always make national development as work of gravity.Singapore has created the miracle of economic development.It is success stems from Singapore's national identity education in primary and secondary schools.The process of modern construction in Singapore,national identity does not synchronize with industrialization.The historical development of national identity education in primary and s econdary schools in Singapore,the historical development can be divided into four stages,disillusioned stage,corrective stage,changeless stage,optimized stage.From 1965 to 1979,launched citizenship education,reform the school moral curriculum.From 1979 to 1991,Singapore issued Report of Ong Ting Cheong on Moral Education,it suggested to carry out moral education,prepared for teaching material,launched religion course and Confucian course.From 1979 to 1991,it proposed Singapore's “shared values” and reform the school curriculum.From 1991 to now,launched state education,used the new textbooks since 2000.It was promulgated Character-and-Citizenship-Education-(primary and secondary)-Syllabus in 2014,and then Singapore begin to launched character-and-citizenship-education.Singapore grouped the primary and secondary schools' textbooks according to age in every historical stage.The textbooks of every stage,they have clearly structured aims and centralized contents.The contents are to cultivated national awareness.Singapore's national identity education in primary and secondary schools are resorting to multi-pronged routes and flexile methods.The routes are sets up related courses,practiced extra-curricular activities,practiced community service program and influenced by environment.The methods are value clarification,cultural transmission approach,consideration approach,cognitive development approach and so on.In conclusion,according to above contents summed the Si ngapore's national identity education in primary and secondary schools ‘characters,the characters are: dominance of national identity,innovation of traditional values,integration of Eastern and Western Culture,aim and content feature administrative levels and advance gradually.Then draw inspirations for our country.The inspirations are: the role of schools as the main channel is to be fully taken for the national identity education,cultivate national consciousness,and carry on traditional values;the national identity education is a process from simple to complex.
