The Employment Study Of Primary And Secondary School Teachers In Singapore

The employment of primary and secondary school teachers is crucial important for improving primary and secondary school teachers’quality and accelerating the development of education. In order to found some good measures to improve our country’s primary and secondary school teachers’quality, this thesis researches the employment of primary and secondary school teachers in Singapore.Firstly, the thesis researches the development of the employment of primary and secondary school teachers in Singapore during half a century. According to Singaporean situation, the government reformed the employment system of the primary and secondary school teachers to improve the quality of primary and secondary school teachers, so Singaporean education has developed quickly during half a century.Then the thesis researches the employment of primary and secondary school teachers from three parts:the process of teacher recruitment, the management of the employment, the treatment of the disputes. The process of teacher recruitment includes the applicants’ qualification, the selection and enrollment, and pre-service training. The management of the employment includes in-service training, the salary and welfare, the assessment and promotion, and the term and dismissal. The thesis also researches the treatment of disputes with the term and dismissal together. The thesis summarizes the characteristics and the enlightenment of the employment of primary and secondary school teachers in Singapore. According to our own country’s situation, the thesis gives some suggestions, such as paying attention to teachers’in-service training in personal development and broadening the ways of the promotion.
