Vocabulary,as a factor of language knowledge,plays an important role in English teaching and learning.The English Curriculum Standards of Compulsory Education on vocabulary require students should get to know single words,phrases,idioms and fixed collocations,interpret basic meaning of words and in specific context,use words to describe objects,behavior and characteristic.There is little impact on teaching of vocabulary though many teaching methods have been applied.The researches of second language acquisition find application of lexical chunks is an efficient way of vocabulary learning,especially on language output.It takes the author four months to conduct an action research on the application of lexical chunks to teaching of English vocabulary in junior middle school in 2016,which attempts to answer the following two questions:(1)What major changes will arise after the application of lexical chunks on Luohe Foreign Language Junior Middle School students' interest and attitude?(2)What major changes will arise after the application of lexical chunks on Luohe Foreign Language Junior Middle School students' strategy and motivation?The research subjects are 61 students from Luohe Foreign Language Junior Middle School.The questionnaires are carried out on the basis of students' background knowledge,level and psychological characteristics.In addition,some research methods,such as interview,dictations and weekly English writings are applied to this action research in order to see the situation before the action research and the major changes after the application on English vocabulary learning.The major findings of this action research reveal students have enhanced their interest and confidence on vocabulary learning as well as changed their learning strategies.In addition,there are differences of the changes according to their foundation and levels.And the limitations of this research and pedagogical suggestions have been given by the author.
