Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering,as the highest level of higher education in engineering,plays a very important role in cultivating the person who research and creative integrate profound knowledge in the field of engineering,technology and science in order to meet the social need.It also shoulders the important task in high level research achievements and providing strong technical support for technology and engineering activities.That is why the state and society attention the education of Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering.On the basis of defining the core concept of Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering student and educational quality,according to process management theory to analysis the "input-process-output" of education of Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering.The principle of analysis is systematic,representative,operability,comparability and the output of analysis is the theoretical framework of indicators of Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering,which include five first-class indicators and second-class index.After researching the existing quality of graduate educational questionnaire of China and America,the research compiles "education quality questionnaire of Tianjin's Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering ".Then,this study analysis the reliability and validity by the output of preliminary investigation through the SPSS 18.0 to ensure the scientific of the questionnaire.This study adopts the method of empirical study,regard Tianjin University,Nankai University,Tianjin Polytechnic University,Tianjin University Of Science&technology and Tianjin University Of Technology as respondents,through questionnaire and semi-structured interview to get data in order to analysis the present and problem of Tianjin's education of Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering.Date analysis is focused on doctoral students' personal factors,teacher factors,curriculum factors,environmental factors and performance factors.Based on statistic and analysis,firstly,there is significant difference in research performance of doctor of Philosophy in Engineering of different enrollment;secondly,the impact of gender on research design capability and innovation ability has significant difference;thirdly,academic exchanges has positive correlate with the number of students which a tutor guides,and it also has positive correlate with the impact of expertise and research capacity;fourthly,the satisfaction level of course over middle;fifth,the doctor of Philosophy in Engineering has little opportunity to participate in academic conference;sixth,the impact of gender,type of undergraduate school and graduate school onperformance has not significant difference.Based on collinearity among five factors,this study also establishes a multiple regression model to display the correlation among five factors.Finally,in view of Tianjin's education quality of Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering,this study put forward some measures for improvement to improving the education quality of Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering.
