A Research Of Group Work Intervention On The Spiritual And Cultural Service Of The Elderly In Community

With the improvement of living standards, the level of medical progress and the constant improvement of the social security system, the ratio of senior citizens to total population increases during the past decade. Although the living standards were improved , the spiritural life of the elderly people is far from satisfied, due to a lack of cultural and recreational activities in their daily life. How to solve the problem and meet the spiritual and cultural needs of the elderly has become a serious problem for academics in practice.According to the Law on Protection of the Rights and Interests of the Aged,"Faxmily members should not ignore the spiral needs of the elderly "," the children should visit the parents on a regular basis if they do not live together". But the situation is not optimistic, neither the family nor the community provide enough spiritual support to the aged people, so they are bothered by spiritual emptiness and loneliness.In this paper, the author take Y community in Zhengzhou as an example, using the method of questionnaire survey and interview, to research the professional theories and methods of social work .Through on-the-spot investigation on the spiritual and cultural needs of the elderly, analysis of the existing types of community elderly and the spiritual and cultural needs stage of community elderly spiritual and cultural services.With Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory, based on the activity theory and social support theory, the author analyze the group work's advantage of meeting the team members' spiritual and cultural needs. Through the evaluation of the group process and the effect of team work in to meet the spiritual and cultural needs of the elderly in the community's role.The conclusion of the study is that the quality of social group work intervention can effectively enhance the spiritual life of the elderly. Secondly, to meet the spiritual and cultural needs of the elderly,we need to build a support network of all aspects of the society,to solve the spiritual and cultural needs of the elderly. Based on the conclusion of the study, the outhor would put forward some improvement of community home care service cultural advice.
